For more than a year now, KelOptic–a company specializing in online sales of optical lenses, founded by 2 business school graduates, Quentin and Charles who know Sharana well–has been offering free glasses for disadvantaged children.
For every purchase over 50 € made via the KelOptic website, the company sends a new frame to Sharana.
Sharana regularly conducts Eye Camps: opthalmological examinations conducted by professional doctors who work voluntarily either in the health centers of the association, in the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, or in the Aravind Eye Hospital. During these camps, frames sent by KelOptic are distributed to children who need to wear glasses.
Thus far, about 400 frames have been distributed thanks to this partnership.
During the April summer camp conducted in at the Aranganur Resource Center, the team of the social workers an “Eye camp“ allowing doctors from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital to detect possible optical needs among camp attendees.
The photos inserted here are from that most recent session.
“Thank you KelOptic” on behalf of the Sharana children!
And thanks also to Anne Line Roy for sending us the story and photographs for the Sharana blog.
