Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Program 

Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Program is a flagship program of Sharana, and a step towards economic empowerment of underprivileged women. The program aims to make women financially independent by providing financial support for their business, building their entrepreneurship and leadership skills, as well as confidence and self-esteem.

The program is funded by Foundation Majany, Luxembourg, and it provides microcredit to underprivileged women for establishing their own small business or developing an existing business. These interest free and collateral free loans break the cycle of poverty, provide necessary financial support without any hassle, prevent women from falling into the trap of private money lenders, and work towards women’s overall well-being.

Our Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Program is carefully designed to work towards achievement of many United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as well. In particular it addresses SDG 1 of poverty alleviation, by creating livelihood opportunities for women. It also addresses SDG 5 of gender equality by economic empowerment of women as well as addresses other women’s issues like women’s physical and mental health, domestic violence, increase in women’s decision making, etc.

The program is also in the complete alignment of the initiatives of The Government of India towards the social and economic empowerment of women. To support Government’s initiatives, the project works towards skill building and digital literacy of women, as well as towards improving maternal and children’s health and education, etc.
