Sharana proud to be part of Satya Special School’s “Own a book” initiative
As part of their “Own a book” initiative, the Satya Special School donated almost 3000 brand-new books to Sharana, about 3 months ago. The idea of this project, was to give to the most vulnerable and destitute children, who have almost nothing to call their own- the possibility of OWNING their own books.

2015 Public Examination results are out: Sharana Sponsored children fare well
Most of the Sharana sponsored children who wrote their 10th and 12th exams this year, received good marks in spite of the problems they face every day at home. Four successful weeks of Summer Camp at the Gayatri House
The Gayatri House (centre for street and slum children) has been running summer camps for the fourth consecutive week now, just like for our Sponsorship programs. During the holidays, the Gayatri House receives 100-120 children on an average every day.

Sharana Summer Camps 2015
We just completed our first week of the 2015 summer camps. Various activities were conducted including games, dance, art and craft activities, several child rights awareness sessions by organizations like CCRD and Childline, a special outing, and good food! Most of the children, sponsored by Sharana, live in an unstable and unsafe environment.

Sharana supports a budding artist
Young Manikandan, is our Mobile Library (mobile outreach unit) beneficiary from the Kandoctorthottaam slum. He is 12 years old, and he is a dreamer. His father is no more and his mother sells roasted corn by the seaside. Manikandan is passionate about painting, and drawing. He forgets all his worries and enters a new world.
