As schools and children brace themselves for the upcoming academic year, it is our pleasure to share with you the toppers in Sharana for the 10th and 12th standard public examinations.

Vignesh scored a brilliant 484/500 marks in the 10th standard exams. His mother works as a cleaner and his father works a painter (most of his earning is diverted towards his alcoholism)- he also has a younger sister. They live in a simple cement-sheeted house and have a humble family background. Vignesh dreams of being a renowned doctor when he grows up.

Muniappan secured 1130/1200 marks in the 12th standard exams. His father irons clothes for a living- and does not drink (which is a huge positive point keeping the family progressing and moving forward) whereas his mother is a housewife- they live in a simple hut-like structure. Muniappan has a younger brother who is also good in studies- together they want to bring their family out of this vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Muniappan wants to become a successful chartered accountant.

Although academic brilliance is not the final or focal aim at Sharana, it definitely shows us what these children as capable off with proper support and guidance both at home and in the schools. Sharana aims at ensuring that the children go through formal schooling and works closely with the family and the schools to facilitate the joy of education and overall mental, social and emotional well-being.

While the entire team at Sharana is busy getting things ready in schools and at home for the oncoming academic year, we wish all our students a happy year of learning and discovery.
