Sharana held a five-day “Women’s Mental Health Awareness Campaign: Towards a Sound Mind” for our Women Social Entrepreneurs from the 19th to the 25th of August.
This was Sharana’s initiative to raise awareness about the Mental Health of women and support the same.
In the 4 months of Covid-19, Sharana’s social workers have been constantly in touch with the women; providing support ranging from provisions, hygiene and activity kits as well as providing much needed motivation and encouragement.
To address the stresses and worries women are facing during Covid times, our Counsellor Mr Prakash reached out for individual counselling sessions to each of the beneficiaries. All calls were a 100% confidential.
In the course of the call he listened to the problems women are facing, and gave them tools of self-care and mental well-being, which will help them relieve stresses and worries they are going through amid Covid-19. Mr. Manuel, our Child Protection Officer was on stand by for any support that was required related to children and their situation amid Corona.
Sharana’s “Women’s Mental Health Awareness Campaign: Towards a Sound Mind” is a step towards recognizing that women’s mental health matters, and that in general the Corona Pandemic has impacted women more than men. Added responsibilities, additional care work & loss of work and income have taken a toll on women’s mental health.
We at Sharana understand that this is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
For most women, this counselling call has turned out to be the first such opportunity they have got to share what they have gone through during Covid19. While some women sought solutions, others simply needed a trustworthy listening ear.
In the coming weeks, we will be publishing a more detailed article of our observations and findings from this Campaign. Watch out on this space for more…
