The monsoon has gently settled over Pondicherry, bringing with it the much-needed rains that nourish our fields, refill our water tables, and cool the air. Even as we welcome this season, the city and surrounding villages have been placed on an orange alert, with advisories urging fishermen to remain ashore until conditions improve.

These alerts are a reminder that while the rains sustain us, they also call for attentiveness and simple precautions to ensure everyone’s safety.

At Sharana, this time of year is familiar territory. As always, our team stepped forward without hesitation. Early this morning, social workers visited the community neighbourhoods to ensure that families were safe and had access to essential support. With schools closed and many daily-wage earners unable to work today, we also distributed warm meals to those who needed them most. In total, 400 meal packets were prepared and shared across affected areas, ensuring that families did not have to worry about their next meal.

For us, the monsoon is not a crisis, it’s a season that calls for preparedness, compassion, and steady hands. While the rains nurture the land, Team Sharana stands ready for the community, committed to responding swiftly should the weather conditions or alert levels escalate.
Years of working closely with these communities have taught us the value of timely intervention, and our staff remains equipped to mobilise quickly if the situation demands it.

As we move through these monsoon days, we remain hopeful, attentive, and anchored in the belief that caring for each other is what truly strengthens a community.
