Earlier this week, Sharana’s team of 10 social workers attended a ½ day training on the Gendered Impacts of Covid-19 Pandemic. The training was conducted by Ms. Jagriti Shankar, a Gender Specialist who leads the Social Entrepreneurship program for Women in the organisation.

This training showed the national and international trends affecting women amid the Coronavirus Pandemic; also, the dire set of situations women and young adolescent girls found themselves in during such an unprecedented crisis.

The training also covered discussions regarding the Impact of the Pandemic on women’s health, education, work, violence against women, and situation of women migrants etc. It also included National and International data of the same; this helped clarify and strengthen concepts during the session. The session also included small videos to portray the situation of women amid Covid, as well an interactive activity inviting everyone’s participation and engagement.

All in all, a morning of learning and realisation of the steep slope we still have to climb towards Gender Equality and Mutual Respect. We continue to work towards the same through our various programs at Sharana; such as the Social Entrepreneurship Program for Women.
