Seeds of Change is Sharana’s Sports for Development program, built on the principles of Playdagogy, an educational approach that uses play as the primary method of teaching. Through structured games, props and symbols are used to represent real-life situations—for example, colour-coded balls can represent different types of waste, helping children understand waste segregation. Games can also explore practical issues such as water management and menstrual hygiene. Through these activities, children learn to recognise everyday challenges, discuss solutions, and develop environmental and social awareness alongside leadership, teamwork, and healthy, active habits.
Developed for the Indian context, the programme draws on the environmental realities and lived experiences of the communities Sharana serves. Implemented across all Sharana working locations, Seeds of Change delivered 900 sessions last year and remains the only NGO in India implementing a dedicated Playdagogy-based Sports for Development program.
