It was a great honour and privilege to receive renowned addiction counsellor and photographer Smita Barooah into Sharana for a two-day workshop on alcohol addiction. (25th and 26th July)
While the first day covered understanding addiction and the principles of treatment-the second day went deeper into the stages and consequences of alcoholism on the family unit.
Alcoholism and its effect is the biggest challenge faced by the social workers in the field. This workshop has equipped them with better understanding of the problem and will help them immensely in their work.
Mrs Barooah gave each of the participants a copy of her book “Understanding Addictions” and personally signed all copies. We take this opportunity to thank Mrs Barooah and hope that this is one of many such workshops (by her) at Sharana.
